And the cause?
Not a failure of leadership.
Nearly thirty years inside a global corporation. I coached the CEO Office, led projects worth hundreds of millions, and worked with teams across four continents. My solutions often worked — but they never reached the root of the problem.
So I started looking elsewhere. Scrum, SAFe, OKRs, Holacracy. At one conference, we participants realized we were no longer talking about Holacracy — we were talking about salaries, careers, and power. The difficult questions move to where the method ends.
Not because the will is lacking. But because the architecture of the organization remains untouched. Agility, New Work, culture programs — all renovations in a burning house.
That is how One-X emerged. Separation of powers — applied to the organization.
How it came about → (German)Before we get to the solution — two questions.
A Do you believe there are enough people who want to perform, take responsibility, and make a difference — if the organization stops getting in their way?
B What could an organization become if it were built for exactly those people — and made the mismatch unmistakably clear to those who are not?
We call people who act this way sovereign. An organization designed to let them act accordingly is a Sovereign Organization.
— Without replacing it with shallow “New Work” or “Agile theater.” —
There is a more effective architecture:
Separation of powers. Trust. Fluid resources.
Progressive, testable, and without a risky
big bang.
